For individuals whose work functions include screening by Hand Search, by ETD, and by X-Ray and Supervision and Responsibility for local implementations of NASP (Site Security Representative)

Course Aims and Objectives:
- To ensure that trainees know the threat to the aviation industry
- To ensure that trainees understand the organisation of aviation security and the role they play to contribute to security.
- To ensure that trainees understand what they must do to establish a robust and resilient aviation security culture.
- To ensure the trainees understand the nature of airport supplies.
- To ensure the trainees understand the background to screening of airport supplies.
- To ensure the trainees are able to carry out an effective visual check of airport supplies.
- To ensure the trainees are able to carry out an effective hand search of airport supplies.
- To ensure the trainees are able to effectively screen airport supplies by ETD.
- To ensure trainees are able to operate x-ray equipment to a standard which allows them to detect prohibited articles reliably.
- To ensure that trainees know the concept of threat image projection and are proficient in its use.
- To ensure trainees know the role of the supervisor.
- To ensure the trainees understand their responsibilities for implementing the National Aviation Security Programme at a local level.
Module Descriptions:
Module 1 – The Threat to Aviation
In this module, we delve into the myriad risks endangering the aviation sector, from cyber attacks to terrorism and natural disasters. Through case studies and simulations, trainees gain insight into identifying, mitigating, and responding to threats, ensuring a resilient and secure aviation industry.
Module 2 – Security in the Aviation Industry
This module provides a comprehensive overview of aviation security, covering organizational structures, protocols, and best practices. Trainees explore their role in safeguarding airports, aircraft, and passengers through threat assessment, surveillance techniques, and emergency response strategies, fostering a culture of vigilance and resilience.
Module 3 – The trainees role
This module elucidates the pivotal role trainees play in cultivating a robust aviation security culture. Through interactive sessions, participants learn essential protocols, reporting procedures, and behavior patterns crucial for maintaining vigilance and resilience. Emphasis is placed on individual accountability and collective responsibility in ensuring aviation safety.
Module 5 - Overview of Airport Supplies

Module 7 – Visual Check

Module 8 – Hand Search

Module 9 – Explosive Trace Detection

Module 10 – Screening Using X-Ray Equipment

Module 11 – Threat Image Projection (TIP)

Module 14 – The Role of the Supervisor

Module 15 – Local Site Security Representative
