Course aims & objectives
This Cyber Security Awareness course provides a clear, practical introduction to cyber security good practices and the current cyber threat landscape within the aviation environment.
Designed for anyone who has access to organisational information, systems, or data, the course focuses on awareness rather than specialist cyber security training. Cyber security is not solely the responsibility of IT or cyber security teams. Everyone who interacts with organisational systems and information has a role to play in protecting them.
Learners will explore the current cyber threat landscape, the importance of protecting critical data and systems, and the potential impact of a security breach. The course introduces the CIA (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability) triad and explains how the loss of one or more of these principles could affect an organisation. Learners will also explore common techniques used by attackers and practical steps that can help reduce cyber security risks.
The course covers good password practices, how to recognise suspicious behaviour, and when and how concerns should be reported. It also introduces the regulatory landscape surrounding cyber security within aviation, helping learners understand why cyber security awareness is an important part of maintaining a safe and secure aviation environment.
This course is designed to provide general cyber security awareness and does not provide specialist cyber security training. Organisations should ensure that awareness training is supported by their own policies, procedures, systems, data, and applicable regulatory obligations.
By building knowledge and confidence, this training helps learners recognise potential cyber security risks, adopt good security practices, and respond appropriately when concerns arise.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Understand the current aviation cyber threat landscape.
- Understand relevant regulatory landscape applicable to the organisation.
- Understand the CIA (or AIC) triad and how the loss of one or more pillar could impact their organisation
- Understand the organisation’s critical data and systems which they have access to and the impact if compromised.
- Understand common techniques used by attackers.
- Understand how to create strong passwords
- Understand how to identify suspicious behaviour and when and how to report concerns
